Cake Week 10:
DECADE-nce
For my tenth Cake Week around the sun, I knew I had to do something special. The fact that we were all trapped in our homes and I found myself with a lot more time only hardened my resolve to do a Cake Week unlike any seen before: DECADEnce, a ten-day splurge of all homemade cakes, ending in an outrageous tower of rainbow sponge and buttercream.
Despite my 90 degree kitchen.
Despite never having made this many cakes.
Despite the cake sweats from eating this much sugar.
Cake Week DECADEnce was a celebration of a new chapter in my life and a turning point in what I could do as a baker. I don’t know that I’ll ever look back.

Cake One: You know what they say: start the day with meat! Ham Salad + Rye Discs + Pimento Cheese + Sour Cream Frosting = Smorgastorte! (From my own twisted mind)
Cake Two: A classic Lane Cake with a modern face. Worlds collide!
Cake Three: Pistachio Bundt by Christina Tosi

Cake Four: Aviation Pound Cake - Lemon loaf with violet, gin, and marschino whipped cream. Topped off with dainty cherry eyes and grilled lemon slices! (From my own twisted mind)
Cake Five: Creme de Leche Baked Alaska from Perfect Cake
"Cake" Six: Rum Raisin Pie from Amy Thielen and Peach Galette from Suqar
Cake Seven: Pineapple Anise Chiffon Lady with Pineapple Flowers by Ottolenghi
Cake Eight: Eyeball Spa Day! Noir Torte via Dorie Greenspan

Cake Nine: Pavlova Carnage (From my own twisted mind)
Cake Ten: Six layer Orange Amaretto Rainbow Cake by the incomparable KimJoy!
